Does BTCU plan to install any solar or wind generation in the future to reduce energy costs for miner operation?
Neutralizing the environmental foot print of Bitcoin mining is number one on the agenda for industrial, commercial and hobbyist miners.
Because the energy requirements for industrial and commercial mining are so high the current wind and solar technology doesn't yet make sense in terms of stacking Satoshis unless you are one of the top .1% (or less) of all mining operations.
In the green world, wind & solar will ultimately become regional power generators and geothermal will have a major role in renewable energy.
If Elon Musk took The Boring Company vertical, in addition to excavating public transit tunnels, he would rapidly further himself as the world's richest man by a factor of 5.
The warm, beating heart of the Earth can supply every person on the planet untold amounts of energy ad infinitum.
Elon Musk, if you can hear me, become the caretaker of Earth's future energy abundance by creating a global geothermal-energy company.
Lease the technology to every country in the world for $1 and sell them all the engineering & equipment.
Allow the client or nation-state to build it with their own people, teach them how to operate, maintain & improve upon it then you will have taken the "teach a man to fish" proverb to it's farthest degree and given all of current & future humankind boundless, free energy.
I can help - Let's get started!
If Elon (or anyone) was to accomplish this feat, BTC would rapidly become the first-layer of the new economy - and probably some DOGE, too if Elon is at the helm.
Unbridled, essentially-free energy would make every global citizen an equal almost instantaneously and could quite frankly lead humanity into what the great writer & futurist Max Borders dubs the 'Social Singularity' - in essence, a peer-to-peer society.
You simply don't need to contain fusion if you can drill down deep enough in the Earth.
I can's say how the future I am proposing above would effect us culturally but it would certainly take a toll on the power of government as the global society becomes a peer-to-peer civilization who no longer needs to be tethered to a central governing body.
So anyways, what was your question?
Oh yeah, sunshine and windstorms...The future is bright though!
Advances in renewable technology's such as solar and wind continue and may someday be a viable option for smaller miners.
There is some really cool, unique technologies that are rapidly coming online that will enable the capture of resources that are currently being wasted.
Abandoned coal mines and the capture of natural gas flares are but two of many new options being implemented as alternative forms of btc mining-specific energy sources.
One thing I know for sure about well-funded capitalists. If there is a will, there is a way.
Keep on mining!
